Sullivan County Ceasefire and Arms Embargo

All people living in Palestine and beyond have been deeply affected by the failure of the United State Government to act on a Ceasefire and Arms Embargo resolution.Since October 2023, the US government has sent more than $12,500,000,000 to Israel with another $8.7 Billion on the way, an average of 25 Million dollars per day, with a promise to send at least 3.8 billion per year until 2028, while our own American citizens here are neglected.In a time of unprecedented financial hardship for Americans, we are asking to keep our tax dollars in our communities, rather than sending them to foreign countries to commit war crimes.In addition to rising death tolls and loss of life, the Leahy Law prohibits the United States government from “using funds for assistance to units of foreign security forces where there is credible information implicating that unit in the commission of gross violations of human rights (GVHR). One statutory provision applies to the State Department and the other applies to the Department of Defense…The U.S. government considers torture, extrajudicial killing, enforced disappearance, and rape under color of law as GVHRs when implementing the Leahy law. Incidents are examined on a fact-specific basis.”We must act now in joining local cities Newburg, Kingston, Beacon, and over 100 cities across the U.S in passing a Ceasefire and Arms Embargo resolution. It is our duty as humans and global citizens to call for an end to the death and destruction in Palestine at the hands of our own governments.We call on our representatives to actionably demonstrate their commitment to democracy, by standing against antisemitism, Islamophobia, and ethno-nationalism by demanding an end to this crisis.Text

We want to see a multicultural, peaceful, and free Palestine that celebrates the rich, diverse peoples and heritage of the region. We work for an end to the apartheid occupation of Palestine and the creation of locally-led, sustainable, just, and thriving systems that support the self-determination of the Palestinian people.

Our MISSION

Our mission is to create and sustain a coalition of community members from the Upper Delaware region of New York and Pennsylvania which will advance the movement for justice and complete freedom from their occupiers in Palestine. We work through political action, cultural exchange, education and community building.

Our Goals

Our goals are to end the illegal occupation of Palestine; provide immediate and unhindered access to humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine; reinstate critical funding to UNWRA and counter the biased, misleading and harmful restating of Israel propaganda talking points that dominates our media and government.
